Morning Routines Made Simple: An Interview with Haser
MORNING ROUTINES, MADE SIMPLE.
Kairau ‘Haser’ Bradley is a Māori artist born and raised in the western suburbs of Auckland, New Zealand.
After decades of dedication to the urban canvases and years navigating the corporate space of the design world, Haser now occupies a full time art practice. We sat down with Kairau in his home in West Auckland to get a glimpse of his morning routine.
GOOD MORNING, WHO ARE YOU AND WHERE ARE WE THIS MORNING?
Kia ora, my name is Kairau and my artist name is Haser. So, currently we’re in the studio inside my whare, out in West Auckland. Mighty West Auckland. And this is where I make work every day.
WHAT’S YOUR MORNING ROUTINE?
So every morning I wake up, I get our daughter out of bed and then we make her breakfast. We drop her off at daycare and then from there I usually go to a cafe and I have a daily practice of a drawing every day, which I’ve been doing for six years now. I’m living my dream.
